Technology That Makes a Difference for Patients
Good equipment doesn’t replace good dentistry — but it makes good dentistry more precise, more comfortable, and more efficient. At Tribute Family Dentistry, we invest in technology that has a direct, demonstrable benefit for patients: catching problems earlier, reducing procedure time, eliminating the need for messy impressions, and giving patients a clear picture of exactly what is happening in their own mouth.
We serve patients from The Tribute, Lone Star Ranch, Phillips Creek Ranch, Frisco Lakes, The Colony, and Little Elm.
Technology in Our Office
Digital X-Rays
Digital radiographs use up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays and produce images instantly on screen — meaning we can review findings with you in real time rather than waiting for film to develop. Sharper images also mean more accurate diagnosis of cavities between teeth, bone levels, and root issues that are invisible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
A panoramic X-ray captures the entire mouth — all teeth, both jaws, the jaw joint, and surrounding structures — in a single image. This gives us a broad view that individual bite-wing X-rays don’t provide, and is particularly useful for evaluating wisdom teeth development, jaw bone health, and identifying concerns outside the tooth-by-tooth view.
Intraoral Camera
A small, pen-shaped camera that captures high-resolution images inside your mouth and displays them on a chairside screen. This lets you see exactly what your dentist sees — cracked enamel, early decay, gum tissue changes, and failing restorations — making treatment discussions more informed and less abstract. No more taking the dentist’s word for it; you see the same image we do.
Digital Impressions (Intraoral Scanner)
Traditional impressions involve putty trays that many patients find uncomfortable, particularly those with a strong gag reflex. Our intraoral scanner creates a precise 3D digital model of your teeth in minutes — no putty, no trays, no waiting for a mold to set. Used for crowns, aligners, night guards, and any restoration requiring accurate tooth geometry. More comfortable and more precise than the traditional method.
3D Printing
In-office 3D printing capability allows us to fabricate certain dental appliances with precision and speed. This technology enables more customized, accurate restorations and appliances than traditional methods allow, and reduces the time between diagnosis and delivery for select treatments.
Ultrasonic Scaler
Our hygienists use ultrasonic scalers alongside traditional hand instruments during cleanings. The ultrasonic tip uses gentle vibration and water irrigation to break up and flush away tartar and bacterial deposits — particularly effective below the gumline. Many patients find ultrasonic scaling more comfortable than hand scaling alone, and it is significantly more efficient for removing heavy buildup.
Electronic Apex Locator
Used during root canal treatment to precisely locate the tip of the tooth’s root canal in real time. This allows our dentists to clean and fill canals to exactly the right length — improving the accuracy of root canal treatment and reducing the need for repeated X-rays during the procedure.
Oral Cancer Screening
A thorough visual and tactile examination of all soft tissues in the mouth, throat, and neck is performed at every routine visit. Early detection of oral cancer significantly improves outcomes — and because most people see their dentist more often than their physician, the dental office is often where early-stage lesions are first identified.
Paperless Charting & Digital Records
All patient records, treatment notes, X-rays, and clinical findings are stored digitally. This means your complete dental history is instantly accessible at every visit — no pulling paper charts, no lost records, and easy sharing with specialists when a referral is needed. It also means online forms and pre-visit paperwork can be completed before you arrive.
Automated Appointment Reminders
We send automated reminders by text and email before your appointment so you never miss a scheduled visit. For families managing multiple members’ appointments, this keeps everyone on track without phone tag.
Electronic Insurance Claims
We submit insurance claims electronically, which speeds up processing and reduces the chance of errors or delays. Most claims are processed significantly faster than paper submissions, which means less waiting for reimbursements and fewer administrative headaches for you.
Patient Education Technology
We use chairside screens and digital imaging to walk patients through exactly what we’re seeing in their mouth — what’s healthy, what needs attention, and what will happen if a concern is left untreated. Informed patients make better decisions and experience less anxiety because they understand what’s actually happening.
Technology Should Serve Patients, Not Impress Them
We are deliberate about the technology we invest in. The question we always ask is: does this make the experience meaningfully better for the patient? Does it allow us to catch something earlier? Treat something more precisely? Make a procedure more comfortable? Reduce the number of visits needed?
If the answer is yes, we invest in it. If it’s primarily a marketing tool that adds cost without improving care, we don’t. The technology listed on this page earns its place because it has a direct, measurable benefit for the people sitting in our chairs.
Technology and Human Care Together
The best dental technology in the world doesn’t replace a dentist who listens, explains, and genuinely cares about outcomes. Our team uses these tools to enhance what they already do well — not as a substitute for clinical judgment or patient communication.
When you visit Tribute Family Dentistry, you’ll find a team that combines modern equipment with the kind of personalized attention that patients remember long after the appointment is over.
