A More Conservative Path to a Stunning Smile
Porcelain veneers are one of the most transformative options in cosmetic dentistry — able to change the color, shape, size, and symmetry of your teeth in just two appointments. What sets our approach apart at Tribute Family Dentistry is a focus on preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. Not every veneer case requires aggressive enamel removal, and when it doesn’t, we won’t do it.
We serve patients from The Tribute, Lone Star Ranch, Phillips Creek Ranch, Frisco Lakes, The Colony, and Little Elm. Our team will evaluate your teeth, discuss your goals, and recommend the most conservative approach that still achieves the result you’re looking for.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are ultra-thin custom shells of porcelain fabricated to fit precisely over the front surface of your teeth. They’re bonded permanently in place and, once set, look and feel completely natural — your closest friends and family often can’t tell the difference.
Unlike composite bonding, which is applied directly chairside, porcelain veneers are crafted in a dental lab from digital impressions of your teeth. The result is a level of precision, translucency, and stain resistance that composite simply can’t match. They are the gold standard for cosmetic smile transformations.
What Can Veneers Fix?
Deep staining that doesn’t respond to whitening
Chipped, cracked, or worn enamel
Gaps or spaces between teeth
Teeth that are too small, short, or uneven
Mild misalignment or asymmetry
Peg lateral incisors after orthodontic treatment
Overall smile symmetry and proportion
Our Philosophy
What “Non-Invasive” Actually Means
Traditional veneers require removing a layer of enamel from the front of each tooth to create room for the porcelain shell. This is irreversible — once enamel is removed, it doesn’t grow back, which is why veneers are considered a permanent commitment.
Our non-invasive approach means we evaluate each case carefully and minimize enamel reduction wherever the tooth’s shape and position allow for it. In some cases — particularly when teeth are already slightly small or recessed — little to no enamel removal is required at all. The goal is always to achieve the aesthetic result you want while protecting as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.
Veneers cover only the front surface of a tooth. Crowns encapsulate the entire tooth. We recommend veneers when the underlying tooth structure is healthy — they require significantly less reduction and preserve more of what’s natural.
When a tooth is structurally compromised — heavily filled, cracked, or significantly damaged — a crown may be the better long-term choice. We’ll always explain the rationale and present your options clearly before making any recommendation.
How the Veneer Process Works
Consultation
We discuss your goals in detail, review your dental health, and determine which teeth are candidates. You’ll see what’s achievable before committing to anything.
Treatment Planning
Impressions and photos are taken. We build a detailed plan for the shape, size, and shade of each veneer — custom to your face and smile.
Tooth Preparation
Minimal enamel is removed where needed. Temporary veneers are placed so you can preview your new smile while the permanent ones are being fabricated.
Lab Fabrication
Your veneers are custom-crafted in a dental lab from high-quality porcelain. This typically takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Bonding & Final Fitting
Veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth. We check fit, color, and bite before finalizing. You leave with your new smile that same day.

- Best for structurally damaged teeth
Not sure which option is right for you? Our team will walk you through the tradeoffs at your consultation and make a recommendation based on your specific teeth, goals, and budget — never a one-size-fits-all approach.
Common Questions
Veneers FAQ
With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years or longer. Avoiding habits like biting nails, chewing ice, or using teeth as tools extends longevity significantly. Regular checkups let us monitor them and address any issues early.
Yes — because enamel is removed during preparation, veneers are a permanent commitment. The tooth will always need to be covered by a veneer or crown going forward. This is why careful case selection and conservative preparation matter so much.
Most patients experience little to no discomfort. We use local anesthetic during tooth preparation. Some temporary sensitivity is common after preparation while wearing temporaries, which typically resolves once the final veneers are bonded.
No — porcelain does not respond to whitening agents. If you’re considering both whitening and veneers, we recommend whitening your natural teeth first and then matching your veneer shade to the whitened result. This sequencing matters and we’ll plan accordingly.
Yes. Once bonded, veneers function like natural teeth. We recommend avoiding biting directly into very hard foods (crusty bread, hard candy, ice) and using a night guard if you grind your teeth, as grinding is one of the most common causes of veneer damage.
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic procedure and are generally not covered by dental insurance. However when there is a functional component — such as a cracked or structurally compromised tooth — a portion of the treatment may be eligible. We’ll verify your benefits before your consultation.

— Patient, Lone Star Ranch
“My daughter got bonding done on her lateral incisors after her braces came off. The team at TFD explained the veneer option too and helped us decide what was right for her age. Really thoughtful approach.”

Cost & Financing
Porcelain veneers typically range from $900 to $2,500 per tooth depending on the complexity of the case and number of teeth treated. Full smile makeover pricing is discussed at your consultation after we’ve evaluated your specific situation.
Veneers are a cosmetic procedure and are generally not covered by dental insurance. However, our Smile Savings Plan provides 20% off most treatments, and financing is available through CareCredit and Cherry with flexible monthly payment options.
Veneer treatment can also be phased across multiple appointments if budget or timing is a consideration — treating the most visible teeth first and completing the plan over time.
