Tooth Infections & Abscesses

An abscess is a pocket of pus caused by bacterial infection inside the tooth or in the gum tissue. Left untreated, infection can spread to the jaw, neck, and in rare cases further. We can drain the abscess, prescribe antibiotics, and determine whether a root canal or extraction is needed — often the same day.

Same-Day Tooth Extractions

When a tooth is too damaged, infected, or broken to save, extraction is often the fastest path to pain relief. We perform same-day extractions for emergency cases when it is safe to do so. For surgical extractions, Dr. David Roberts is available with IV sedation.

Root Canal Treatment

When infection has reached the nerve of a tooth, a root canal removes the infected tissue, stops the pain, and saves the tooth from extraction. Modern root canals are no more uncomfortable than a filling and provide immediate relief from the acute pain of an infected nerve.

Broken or Cracked Teeth

A crack or fracture can expose the nerve and cause severe pain, or it can be silent and only discovered on an X-ray. We evaluate the extent of the damage and recommend the most conservative treatment — bonding, a crown, or extraction depending on what’s salvageable.

Lost Fillings & Crowns

A lost filling or dislodged crown leaves the tooth exposed and vulnerable. We can often re-cement a crown or place a temporary restoration the same day to protect the tooth and eliminate sensitivity while a permanent solution is fabricated.

Sports & Trauma Injuries

Knocked-out teeth, chipped teeth from impact, and soft tissue lacerations from dental trauma all need prompt evaluation. Call us immediately — for knocked-out teeth, speed is everything. Keep the tooth moist and come in right away.

Yes, when it is medically safe to do so. We evaluate with an exam and X-ray first. In some cases, antibiotics are prescribed to reduce infection before extraction. We will always explain what we recommend and why before proceeding.

A dental fistula is a small pimple-like bump on the gum that is draining pus from an infected tooth root. It is often painless but always indicates a serious underlying infection. If you notice one, call us — this needs to be treated even if there is no pain.
