Oral Surgery — Frisco TX
35+ Years of Surgical Experience. Thousands of Patients. One Focus.
Dr. David Roberts is the oral surgery specialist at Tribute Family Dentistry, bringing over 35 years of surgical dental experience to patients who need wisdom teeth removed or complex extractions performed with precision, comfort, and IV sedation.
Dr. Roberts has performed these procedures on over 30,000 patients throughout his career — a depth of surgical experience that is simply not available at most general dental offices. His focus is narrow by design: wisdom teeth removal and surgical extractions, done safely and comfortably using IV moderate sedation so patients can relax through the entire procedure.
For patients at Tribute who need this level of surgical care, having Dr. Roberts available in the same practice means no referrals to unfamiliar offices, no starting over with a new provider, and no gap in the continuity of your care.
What Dr. Roberts Provides at Tribute
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Removal of erupted, partially erupted, and fully impacted wisdom teeth. Dr. Roberts evaluates each case individually and removes wisdom teeth with the precision and efficiency that comes from 35+ years of surgical experience. Most patients are surprised by how manageable the recovery is.
Surgical Extractions
When a tooth cannot be removed with a simple extraction — due to fracture below the gumline, severe decay, curved roots, or other complications — a surgical approach is required. Dr. Roberts handles these cases with the careful technique that protects surrounding bone and tissue and supports proper healing.
IV Moderate Sedation
Dr. Roberts administers IV moderate sedation for surgical procedures, allowing patients to remain deeply relaxed and comfortable throughout treatment without requiring a hospital setting. He is a national lecturer on IV sedation technique and dental safety — patients in his chair benefit directly from that expertise.

About IV Sedation for Wisdom Teeth
IV moderate sedation allows patients to remain deeply relaxed — often with little or no memory of the procedure — while remaining in a state where they can respond to verbal cues. It is administered through a small IV line and takes effect within seconds, unlike oral sedation which requires a longer lead time and produces less predictable depth.
For wisdom teeth removal, IV sedation is the gold standard. It eliminates anxiety, reduces the perception of pain, and allows Dr. Roberts to work efficiently — which directly reduces procedural time and contributes to a smoother recovery.
You will need a driver to take you home after the procedure. Our team will walk you through all pre- and post-operative instructions at your consultation.
When Should Wisdom Teeth Come Out?
Pain or pressure at the back of the jaw
Partially erupted wisdom teeth that trap food and bacteria
Impacted wisdom teeth visible on X-ray that have no room to erupt
Crowding caused by wisdom teeth pushing against adjacent teeth
Infection or abscess around a wisdom tooth
Preventive removal recommended by your dentist before problems develop
Beyond the Office
Dr. Roberts and his wife Kristal stay busy with their four children, six dogs, and two horses. Both are lifelong, avid tennis players who find joy in enriching the lives of their family, friends, and community.
His commitment to improving both dental safety and access to care has been a consistent theme throughout his career — from his advocacy work to the founding of the Koerner Center, to his ongoing role as a national lecturer.
