Dr. Kevin Baharvand — known to patients simply as Dr. B — co-founded Tribute Family Dentistry and Elate Orthodontics alongside his wife, Dr. Julia Kang, with a singular goal: to give families in Frisco a dental home where general dentistry and orthodontics work together under one roof, led by doctors they actually know and trust.

As an ABO board-certified orthodontist, published researcher, and national lecturer, Dr. B brings a level of clinical expertise to Frisco that is rare in a community-based private practice. But what patients tell us matters most is something harder to credential: the feeling that the person treating you genuinely cares about the outcome.

Graduated top of class with a DMD. Inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society — awarded to dentists who demonstrated uncompromised academic achievement. Recipient of the prestigious American Association of Periodontics Award upon graduation.

Completed specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics while simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Upon graduation, was among fewer than 5 orthodontic residents nationally to earn a Certificate in Orthodontics and two master’s degrees concurrently. Inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies.

Board certification is a voluntary credential pursued by a minority of orthodontists — it requires passing rigorous written and clinical examinations and demonstrating excellence across treated cases. Dr. B is a proud ABO Diplomate and maintains that certification through ongoing continuing education.

Dr. B has been published in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics and the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics — the most highly credited orthodontic journal in the world. One of his treated patients, Sasha, was featured on the cover of that journal. He has also been featured in Orthotown, Dentaltown, and Wave Magazine, and serves on the Editorial Board of Orthotown Magazine.

Dr. B is a national lecturer on clear aligner therapy and orthodontic practice management, regularly invited to speak at conferences and continuing education events across the country. He serves as a national lecturer for Angel Aligner, educating fellow orthodontists on efficient aligner systems and virtual care integration. His interview on the Dentistry Uncensored Podcast has been viewed in over 50 countries.

In 2018, at the AAO Annual Session in Washington D.C., Dr. B’s treated patient case was selected for display before orthodontists from around the world — one of the highest forms of peer recognition in the specialty. “I’d like to do my best, leaving no regrets behind” is the motto Dr. B draws his energy from.

His Approach to Care

Dr. B believes that excellent dental care is both a clinical and a human endeavor. The clinical part — the diagnosis, the treatment planning, the precision of execution — is what his training and credentials reflect. The human part is what he built his practices around.

Tribute Family Dentistry and Elate Orthodontics are deliberately not corporate practices. There are no investors, no production quotas, no revolving door of providers. Dr. B and Dr. Kang are present, accessible, and personally invested in outcomes. The patient sitting in the chair is not a chart number — they are someone whose smile will matter to them for the rest of their life.

When Dr. B is not in the office, he is a Baba — which in his household means crawling on his knees giving rides, playing with Hot Wheels, and reading Pout-Pout Fish for the zillionth time. He and Dr. Kang have three children, Kian, Amelia, and Liam.

He loves grilling and growing his own vegetables and fruits, and he is the published author of Daddy on Duty: Soccer Game — a children’s book following little Luca the Dinocorn through his very first soccer game, exploring themes of teamwork, perseverance, and the bond between a father and his child.
